The MBI Narcotics Section, staffed with local, state and federal agents and supported with analysts, investigates mid-level narcotics trafficking in Central Florida. The goal of the Narcotics Section is to disrupt or dismantle drug trafficking organizations through enforcement, interdiction and seizing illegal assets. The Physician/Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit is part of the Narcotics Section. The Physician/Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit investigates crimes involving pill mills, fraudulent prescriptions and doctor shopping. MBI has been an initiative of the Central Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) since 1999.
